As a sport dietitian practicing in Vancouver for 13 years, Cristina’s clients include the Vancouver Canucks and Canada’s Olympic athletes. Whether you want to lose weight or build muscle, Cristina will create your own healthy eating plan that delivers great results. Her areas of expertise include chronic disease, digestive disorders, emotional eating, prenatal nutrition, sport nutrition and weight management.
Christina has a relaxed approach with food and nutrition and does not promote restrictive or perfect diets. Instead, she will give you the practical tools to build balanced eating habits that you can maintain for life. She will teach you simple strategies to boost energy, reduce cravings and maximize nutrition to achieve your health and fitness goals. She applies evidence based recommendations to all health conditions and provides you with an individual plan that fits your lifestyle.
Cristina Sutter earned a Masters degree in Community Nutrition from the University of Toronto after studying Dietetics at the University of British Columbia. She also has a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University and worked as a personal trainer before becoming a dietitian. Cristina was a University Instructor at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and Langara College, where she taught the fourth-year sport nutrition course for several years.
Cristina works with elite athletes. She worked with the Vancouver National Swim Centre for 4 years, travelling with Swimming Canada’s team to world championships. The Womens Canadian Alpine Ski Team, BCParaAlpine Ski Team, BCGymnastics, BCBasketball, BCFieldHockey, SFU Varsity Swimming, SwimBC and the WhitecapsFC youth residency program are just a few of the teams she has worked with over the years. Cristina is the SportMedBC Sun Run InTraining Sport Dietitian and she enjoys working with recreational athletes who are training for their next big race, whether it’s a 10K or ironman.
Cristina enjoys working with youth. Sometimes it helps if someone other than mom and dad talk about nutrition. Cristina understands kids and knows how to empower them to make great choices. She has a sensitive and genuine demeanor that creates a safe learning environment for children and youth.
Cristina understands how to break the vicious cycle of emotional eating and has helped many clients to understand and overcome their emotional battle with food. She is highly skilled at assessing the relationship between self-esteem, stress and eating behaviours and will teach you the strategies to relearn new patterns of eating and thinking about food.
